Our Story

Aurora House exists to provide safety, stability, and support to individuals who have experienced human trafficking, exploitation, and gender-based violence. We offer transitional housing alongside wraparound care that empowers survivors to heal, rebuild, and reclaim their lives.

Aurora House was created through the vision and compassion of Toronto United Mennonite Church (TUMC), whose deep commitment to social justice sparked a response to the lack of housing and long-term supports for survivors in the city. That commitment led to a long-standing partnership with the Mennonite New Life Centre of Toronto (MNLCT), who now coordinates and stewards day-to-day operations.

Together, TUMC and MNLCT continue to work in partnership to uphold the values at the heart of Aurora House. The home is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, and its services are staffed and delivered by MNLCT’s team of trauma-informed counsellors, case workers, and housing support staff.

To date, Aurora House has supported more than 60 residents, providing the tools, care, and community survivors need to move forward with confidence and dignity.
